Project Presented by

This site is a subjective map of Boreal Art Nature's Centre Art Terre. It presents glimpses into the dynamic beauty and complexity of the land through photographic documentation collected during my extended residency in 2004-2005. I made my first visit to the land in the first week of April 2004. I spent close to a week on the land every month for the next seven months. The mapping I had planned to do evolved as I explored and came to know the land.

This site/map has been structured to be discovered in a non-linear fashion. I wanted to create a space which could be explored in a manner similar to the exploration I made of the land that inspired and informed it. The structure of each page provides four choices to continue uncovering the photographs on the site. Your four options are randomly generated after every choice you make, so each visit is unique.

The site is structured around two linked information modalities: photographic images paired with single words. The photographs were all taken on or very near the boreal art nature group's Centre Art-Terre. The words were chosen to evoke thoughts and ideas that I contemplated during my visits.

I chose to present the textual aspect of the work in an open-ended and non-didactic manner to reflect my perpetually changing perception of nature's voices. The photographs speak for themselves.

Special thanks to Daniel, Jeanne, Julie, Luc, Tedi, Jagan, Henri, Auriel, Guy, Andrée, Mel, Julie, Margaret Rose, Doug, Shirlee and Melina - without your support I would never have realized this project.
